Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.

Audiences can expect finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
